Sustainability and Production of Our Scarves

When questions arise about the sustainability and production of our scarves, it is important for us to explain how and why we have chosen our current production method. We prioritize both quality and responsible production, and we would like to share more about our approach.

Why production in China?

Silk is a raw material with deep roots in Chinese culture and history. China invented silk and is the world's leading producer of the best and most sought-after silk. Although countries such as India and Vietnam also produce silk, Chinese silk is known for its unrivaled quality and expertise.

If we were to produce and print the silk scarves in Denmark, we would still have to import the raw silk from China, as this is where the silk is originally produced. In addition, as a country, we do not have much experience in the production of silk scarves. Silk production requires a unique combination of technical knowledge, tradition, and experience, which China has developed over centuries.

By producing close to the source, we minimize transport and unnecessary transport of raw materials across borders. In this way, we achieve the highest quality while maintaining a responsible approach to production.

Responsibility and certification

We only work with suppliers who are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified. This certificate ensures that the products are free from harmful substances and have been produced under responsible conditions. You can read more about OEKO-TEX® here.

For us, it is crucial to ensure that:

• The raw material is produced close to our suppliers – this reduces transport and carbon footprint.
• Our suppliers comply with high standards for the environment and working conditions.
